Succinic anhydride is a white orthorhombic conical and bipyramidal crystal at room temperature.
It is insoluble in water and ether, but soluble in chloroform.

Chemical Properties 
It reacts with hot water to form succinic acid and with ammonia to form succinimide. lt is an importantintermediate in organic synthesis.

Uses 
lt is used in the manufacture of medicines, such as vitamin A and sulfonamides.
